Step 7
|
Step 1. Take Ten Minutes to Define What You Do (And Hopefully Like to Do) Best Step 2. Create the offer by thinking about your customer. What do they want to buy? Step 3. Target your natural market. What success stories are out there? Step 4.Test proven methods of advertising. Find the one that works best for your market. Step 5. Follow up with your customers via direct mail, email, fax, and telephone. Step 6. Look for endorsements from other businesses. When you research your market, did you find someone you could joint venture with? Step 7.Find more products and services to offer. |
Find more products and services to offer. Contact your customers and see what they would like to have. You have so many products and services to choose from. Ally yourself with people who are good at what they do. Do they have a product your market would be interested, or vice versa? Most Web sellers think they are only selling Web sites. That leaves the customer only one choice. Give them many choices; they'll ask you for the complete solution. Don't try to do it all yourself; work out a commission system, or simply trade leads. Here's a brief list of what you can sell besides Web sites and advertising: 1. Web consulting and design; how do they position their product or service? 2. Web marketing: how will people find them? 3. Press releases; they are so cheap if you do them right. 4. High tech tricks like databases, Java, or whatever else they might request. 5. Position them in the search engines by working with a paid service; contact Gene Ramos at psotowers.com. 6. Research into what they should do and a paid, customized solution. 7. Where they can set up their site and for how much. 8. Email marketing tools, including autoresponders, mailing lists, and discussion forums. 9. Maintenance and changing of the site on a monthly basis. 10. Evaluation services, including statistical studies For those who don't know, log files are generated by virtually every Web site. Your techie will know for sure. Run these through a program and you'll find alot of info about who is visiting your site, from where, when, and what they do. Log files are text only, small and easy to read. 11. Writing services; this is where people really lack, especially ad copy. Begin again... Let's begin by taking the hype out of Web business. Success online is measured in terms akin to direct marketing. If you create an direct mail test, you will be tremendously successful if you get a 3-5% response, and if you follow up and sell that many, you'll be happy. If you have a Web site selling business, the same rules apply. In fact, if you sell 5% of your visitors, you should make money. If you don't, look for a higher priced product or service to sell. If you think you'll generate customers just by being online, come to earth. There is plenty of money being made if you know what to expect. Think of it this way; in baseball, if you get one hit in 3 at bats you're a star. In Web marketing, it's similar percentages. You need to get a 3 percent return at least and that's not easy. But if you find the right customers, especially your top 10 percent, you can build a long term business. The best way to insure results is to build your email marketing list. This is the result any business should focus on. Email is the most efficient way to market and can build your business tremendously. If someone contacts you, ask for their email address in exchange for mailing them reminders, Web reports, newsletters, and include advertising in these. Customers can always ask to be taken off your list, but by asking you'll find most will be happy to receive your email. Focus on your marketing and your audience, your customer base. Build them and you'll have the money to afford all those technologies; forget it and you're in big trouble because you will keep running out of customers, and keep funneling money into getting new ones. Any good sales process is a cycle. Keep building up your customer list, keep selling them different products and services, and be the best one to choose. Put your marketing on automatic by finding the right people and giving them what they want. |
